Clean only what needs attention
Remove dry dirt and spot clean visible marks before storage. Stains can become harder to address after months in a box or closet.
Follow the product care label and avoid soaking structured footwear simply because the season has ended.
Make sure every layer is dry
Let suede, wool, seams, and insoles dry fully at room temperature. Storing even slightly damp footwear can create odor and affect natural materials.
Do not use direct heat to speed the process. Give the footwear enough time before packing it away.
Support the shape without stretching
Use clean, unprinted tissue or a suitable shoe form to support the toe and boot shaft. Do not overfill, because the goal is to prevent collapse rather than enlarge the footwear.
Close zippers gently and keep pairs positioned so one sole does not press into the other's suede.
Choose breathable, dry storage
Use a clean box or breathable storage bag in a cool, dry place. Avoid sealed plastic if there is any chance moisture remains.
Keep sheepskin away from direct sunlight, high heat, and heavy objects that could flatten wool or distort the sole.
Check before the next cold season
When winter returns, unpack the footwear, let it air, and brush the suede and accessible wool lightly if needed.
This small check is easier than discovering a storage problem on the first cold morning.
